30-day Drawing Challenge Cont-d

I'm continuing with the challenge with mixed results, but I'm afraid my work lacks consistency (a fever impeded some progress last week). Because I want to think of myself as an artist, I tell myself that I have to do a polished piece of work every time, which leads me to overthink each assignment and become overly ambitious. It's also difficult to squeeze in "drawing time"; the girls require a LOT of attention. But I won't give up.

As usual, there are write-ups about each image on my Studio Ed tumblr account.

Day 8: Favorite Animated Character

Day 9: Favorite TV Show [I include this as an example of FAIL.]

Day 10: Favorite Candy

Day 11: Turning Point in My Life [Moving Day]

Day 12: Most Recent Accomplishment [Weight Loss]

Day 14: Favorite Fairy Tale

Day 15: Family Picture [including a do-over]

Day 16: Inspiration

Day 17: Favorite Plant

Day 18: Just a Doodle

30-day Drawing Challenge

My attempt to recapture the habit of daily drawing (by doing the 30-day challenge) is meeting with mixed results. Here are days one through seven; there are notes associated with each on my tumblr, which coincidentally serves as a temporary replacement for my on-hiatus 'studioed.net' site. Hope you find something you like, and I'll post more in a week.

Cheers!

(P.S. Still really missing you guys!)

It's the Great Gourdthulhu, Doc Neurotic!

Belated Hallowe'en greetings!

I was in a 'Nocturnals' mood, and this Nocturnals/Peanuts mashup seemed like a good idea at the time. It took waaaaaay longer to get done than I'd planned (obviously; it's November 10th). I often found myself working on it in 15-minute blocks of time between work, chores, playing with the girls, running errands, tending to the sick and doing assorted other family-centric activities.

In other words, it might be late, but I'm just glad I finished it (which doesn't mean I won't go back and fiddle with little things later; I'm just declaring it 'done for now').

PCS Spotlight - Ed McKeogh's Studio Ed

When Ed McKeogh and his family moved down South, the Philadelphia Cartoonist Society suffered a great loss. Ed is an amazing artist and he and his wife Rebecca were very enthusiastic and active members of all PCS activity, from our self-publishing efforts to BBQ's to charity work. The McKeoghs are and will always be family to us.

Thanks to the the Internet, we can still keep in constant touch with Ed and check out his work. He has been doing the best work I've ever seen him do, and he posts it all on his Studio Ed website. This site is an amazing showcase of Ed's skill and versatility as an artist. Also, he does very unique commission work you should consider if you need a one of a kind gift for someone in your life. PLEASE CLICK HERE to check out STUDIO ED. You won't be disappointed.
