Artist Trading Cards at the Free Library.

Yours truly will be hosting an Artist Trading Card session at the Free Library of Philadelphia as part of their One Book One Philadelphia event. The session starts at 3:30pm and should go to around 6pm. It is a free event and open to all ages. I am hoping to have a few of my fellow Philadelphia Cartoonist Society members on hand to make and trade cards along with all that attend.
Making Artist Trading Cards is always a lot of fun and you get to walk away with some really kewl artwork at the end of the session. Hope to see you there.

If you are unfamiliar with Artist Trading Cards (ATC) you find out more information here.
And I have posted some of my cards from a previous session at Kathy Davis Studios here.

UARTS Summer Pre-College Illustration Classes

This summer, I have been teaching at University of the Arts' Pre- College Summer Institute. I was asked to teach two Illustration classes. In my opinion, it's been one of the best courses I've taught. The students created custom logos, spot illustrations, and gig posters using traditional and digital illustration techniques. I am really impressed with the students in this program. Not only are they electing for more school in the summer, but they come to work.

Working with these students has made my summer. Their ambition and work ethic is inspiring. I find myself energized when I come home to sit right down at the desk and draw or take my sketchbook out to a park. These classes have been a great reminder of why I love to teach and why I love to make art.

ATC @ U of A!

As many of you know I host Artist Trading Card sessions at the University of the Arts. Artist trading cards are a spin off of the popular gaming cards, like Magic. The only difference is each card is a little work of art that is traded with fellow artists. I have been holding sessions (Thank you Mr. Bob Dix) now for almost a decade now and every session holds new creative surprises.
The images above are some of the cards I traded with my High School students.
Keep your eyes peeled for more ATC sessions being posted on this blog!
