Ed McKeogh's Comic Story Laboratory

In '08 (maybe '09?), a local library invited me to teach a 2-hour class on making comics. I dove in and created a mini-comic as a "syllabus" to convey information, jumpstart some creative thinking and demonstrate how to assemble a mini-comic. However, it didn't take long to realize I'd bitten off more than I could chew: There was far too much information to convey in such short period of time, let alone an 8-page mini-comic. I recycled the mini-comic and added a touch more information in '10 to teach a series of classes at Artworks on the Square. [I'll post the first page here; the remainder are at my blog.] Enjoy!

FREE COMICS!

FREE COMICS!!!

In order to motivate me to do more of my own comics, I have started a web comic called Short Stories which will include the stories from my book in addition to new material that I haven't gotten around to finishing. The entirety of Cup-O-Noodles is up there now. Once I have caught up with the short stories I have on file (posting 1 per week), I will be posting complete stories once/month for the foreseeable future. This is a good way to motivate me to keep writing and finishing my own work in addition to the comics I am illustrating by other folks.

It would mean so much if you would go and subscribe! And even more if you could tweet it and facepage it and spread the word (@larsenproject)! Free comics! The next story will be up by Friday.

One day I hope to have enough to collect them all into one gigantic book...

This is the full reveal of my submission to the "Myths & Monsters" art show taking place at the (virtual) art gallery, Acid Free Gallery, located only on the "interwebs" at http://acidfreegallery.com. This was inspired by the legend of the creature that roams the Pine Barrens of New Jersey. Also inspired by time spent growing up in the Garden State, and it's penchant for Heavy Metal bands performing at it's greatest musical venue, the Meadowlands Arena. I saw many a horrible spectacle there, both on and off of the stage, and I'll cherish those moments...

The show goes live at 12:30 pm, Friday afternoon, July 27th. You can stop by now and check out all of the great work, including pieces by Tom "Strongstuff" Whalen, http://strongstuff.deviantart.com/ Dave "Montygog" Perillo, http://montygog.deviantart.com/, Jeffro Kilpatrick http://JeffroKilpatrick.deviantart.com/ and Matt Kaufenberg http://mattkaufenberg.deviantart.com/ Please stop by and check out some great art...

Jeffro's Walkin' Dead-Inspired Shirt on ShirtPunch July 13

Friday the 13th (spoooooooooooooooooooo-ky), for one day only, Shirtpunch.com will be selling a shirt I designed inspired by one of the greatest and brutal comics of all time. The design features a cute version of everyone's katana-weilding zombie slayer and her two docile pets. Shirts cost only $10 bucks and are gone in 24 hours. Great for zombie-maniacs, dog walkers, and friends who like to wave sharp objects around. To visit the website, click HERE.
