3B Show Tonight at Gallery 1988 Venice!

Gallery 1988 and the Autumn Society of Philadelphia are proud to present the " 3B Show: Beetlejuice, Back to the Future, and Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure/Bogus Journey" tonight at Gallery 1988 Venice, located at 214 Pier Avenue in beautiful Santa Monica, CA. This 12" x 24" 3-color screen print as part of a tryptic with fellow PCS artists "Strongstuff" (Tom Whalen) and "Montygog" (Dave Perillo) who based their posters on Beetlejuice and Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure, respectively. We, as the "STD Collective", decided to create poster advertisements reflecting on specific aspects of each film. I choose one of the most important plot points to the first Back to the Future film, the "Enchantment under the Sea" dance. If you're in LA tonight, stop by the gallery to pick up a copy, if you are so inclined. If any prints are left after the show, they will be available on line at Gallery 1988's website: Gallery1988.com within the next day or two. Thanks for lookin'!

Ellington Way #1

I'm going to being ramping production on new comics ideas soon and figured I'd revisit some of my older strips in the process. Ellington Way was a semi-syndicated strip I drew between 2005 and 2007. It centers around the owner of an art gallery, her friends, foes and drinking habits.

These are the first new Ellington strips I've drawn in quite some time. Enjoy!

Save the Date - Saturday, June 4, 2011.

Bring a sketchbook. A group of Philadelphia Cartoonist Society members will be meeting up and getting on the Market-Frankford El (click here for map) that Saturday afternoon. Then we are going to ride the rails back and forth between Bridge/Pratt el stop and the 69th Street el stop, all the while sketching shakily in our books.

At the end of the afternoon, Locust Moon Comics (4040 Spruce Street) will be hosting a BBQ for the group. If you've got a sketchbook and limited wanderlust, and you are interested in joining us for the ride, please e-mail: phillytoon@yahoo.com to RSVP and receive further information.

Back on the Ball!

Hey Y'all

I haven't posted in a while, only because I have been strenuously working on a large scale illustration on my free time. I've finally finished the tonal/value underpainting and I'm gonna flaunt what I got so far. HAH!
Oh yeah, sorry for the graininess. This is actually acrylic on Rives BFK. What sucks is that the only place I could find a GIANT scanner for a cheep price was at Fedex/Kinkos... and this is the result. Better than nothing I suppose.
