C’mon up to the Tree House.

As we speak Melissa and I are putting together our very first collaborative art show. Our good friends over at the Nichols Berg Gallery have graciously given us the second floor of their showroom and we have been collecting and making work for the last six months. At the beginning of November Melissa pulled several of our pieces and spread them out all over our living room (at the Tree House). We both said aloud “Why the heck did we wait this long to do this?”
The opening is this Friday, December 2nd from 6pm to 9pm. Lomax and I will be on hand whoop it up and enjoy the live music. Hope to see you there!
P.S. – I have a ton of pics from my recent book signing at Nichols Berg. I am going through them now for a future post and in preparation for the delivery of the books. I cannot thank everyone enough for all their support -Thank You.
Above: Pic of the Tree House as Lomax and I prepare for this month’s art show. The prices on the work range from $20.00 to $300.00 and there is something for everyone on your Holiday gift list.

Atlantic City Weekly cover by Jeffro

A fella I used to work with named Craig hooked me up with this gig to do an illustration of Jay-Z and Kanye for the cover of Atlantic City Weekly. People who know me know I am about as hip-hop as Leon Redbone. However, I do love Rakim, A Tribe Called Quest, N.W.A., and a lot of hip-hop from my youth. There is a lot of new stuff I like too, like Aesop Rock, and Wu-Tang and local guys like Black Landlord.

In spite of the fact that I am as gangsta as Alan Alda, I thought this was a great opportunity not only for exposure to a new audience, but also to stretch my legs as far as content is concerned. So I was happy to do it.

Target GiftCard

So this was a super fun project I got to do for Target, first because I love Target and second because I have always loved the designs they have for their gift cards. This was a design concept by Tony Franklin over at Target who got me to do the illustration, oh and the other cool thing about this card is it lights up! Here are some sketches...

And here's the finished art...

And here's the gift card which you can purchase online HERE and in Target stores soon...

It's the Great Gourdthulhu, Doc Neurotic!

Belated Hallowe'en greetings!

I was in a 'Nocturnals' mood, and this Nocturnals/Peanuts mashup seemed like a good idea at the time. It took waaaaaay longer to get done than I'd planned (obviously; it's November 10th). I often found myself working on it in 15-minute blocks of time between work, chores, playing with the girls, running errands, tending to the sick and doing assorted other family-centric activities.

In other words, it might be late, but I'm just glad I finished it (which doesn't mean I won't go back and fiddle with little things later; I'm just declaring it 'done for now').

New Artwork! With Giraffes!

How 'bout a non-Poets post for a change? Here are a couple illustrations I'm working on for a children's book by author Missy Hodges.
